BOptom BA GradCert(Optom) PGCOT
An optometrist with over 25 years clinical experience, including more than 15 years as a Low Vision Consultant at the Royal Hobart Hospital Eye Clinic, Paul has a lot of experience in caring for older eyes. At the Low Vision Clinic, he is in charge of assessment for advanced electronic magnifiers and other more complicated vision aids. He lectures in low vision to other optometrists around Australia.
He started Hobart Optometry—Tasmania’s only optometry practice dedicated to aged care—in 2007, after finding that most nursing home residents didn’t get regular eye tests, which too often resulted in avoidable loss of sight.
Currently, Hobart Optometry visits these homes on a semi-regular basis:
- Respect Home St Anns (Davey St)
- BUPA South Hobart (previously known as Vaucluse Gardens)
- Freemasons (Ballawinne Village)
- Queen Victoria Home
- Regis Care (Adards)
- Barossa Park Lodge
- Respect Home Wellington Views (previously St Anns Compton Downs)
- Snug Village
- Hawthorn Village
If your home does not appear on this list, we might still be able to visit. Contact us to discuss your needs.
